A friend told me that mixing Jheri Redding 100% Natural Protein Conditioner into a relaxer is beneficial to the hair and her beautician mixes this in relaxers before she applies it to her clients' hair. I bought a bottle today and it is a dark brown mix that smells similiar to soy sauce and is sold at Sally Beauty Supply Store. I would like to know if anyone has heard of this and how true this is before I mix this with my relaxer. I would like to know advantages and disadvantages, if any.

No! I would not add any thing that is not suppose to be there in with a relaxer, it could break your hair of.

Adding 100% protein to your relaxer is like working against yourself. The relaaxer is designed to straighten the protein bonds in your hair; so unless you want a "curly relaxer", I'd say save your protein for 5-7 days following the relaxer application.

Yes i have done this and found that my hair is hard and smells of relaxer, even after washing it out fourteen times. Don't do it. If you want to use the protein do it after the relaxing. Always make sure to moisturize after because it will leave your hair hard and dry if you don't.
